Speaker Howell Announces Delegate, Citizen Appointments to State Boards, Joint Committees and Commissions

RICHMOND, VA – Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates William J. Howell (R-Stafford) today announced 40 delegate and citizen appointments to various state boards, commissions and joint House-Senate committees. As presiding officer of the 100-member House of Delegates, Speaker Howell performs many duties, including assigning all bills to House committees, appointing chairmen and members of each of the 14 standing committees of the House, naming delegates to all House-Senate conference committees and appointing House lawmakers and citizens to statewide panels each new fiscal year.

“Virginia is blessed to have engaged, civic-minded citizens who give generously of their experience, time and talents. The high quality of governance we enjoy here in the Commonwealth is further improved by citizens who volunteer to participate in the hard work of self-government,” said Speaker Howell. “These motivated leaders serve their communities and our Commonwealth while enriching the democratic process with their expertise, diversity and problem-solving skills.
