Jobs & Economy

Chris was worked to create 68,000 new jobs in Virginia. We need to continue to do all that we can to expand opportunities for the people right here in Hampton Roads. Chris Stolle’s business experience makes him uniquely positioned to understand the importance of keeping the tax and regulatory burden low in order for economic opportunity to grow. Chris will also defend Virginia’s “Right to Work” laws so that Virginia remains competitive. Virginia is ranked fourth in the nation and first east of the Mississippi as “the best state for business” and we need to keep it that way.

Energy Independence

Chris Stolle believes that we need to put forth policies to provide affordable and efficient energy solutions. During his first term in office, Chris led the way on introducing legislation that would make Virginia an energy leader and would provide much needed transportation dollars from energy revenue. There is single solution to our nation’s energy crisis. We need to promote alternative energy, conservation as well as support traditional energy sources so that we can keep the lights on and commerce moving.

  • HB 2191 Voluntary Solar Resource Development Fund; established.
  • HB 2316 Clean Energy Manufacturing Incentive Grant Program; created.
  • HB 2389 Virginia Resources Authority; renewable energy projects.
  • HJ 605 National Offshore Wind Technology Center; General Assembly to support establishing in Hampton Roads.
  • HB 389 Virginia Offshore Wind Development Authority; created.
  • HB 533 Steps to Advance Virginia’s Energy Plan (SAVE) Act; created.
  • HB 756 Offshore drilling; royalties to be deposited in Transportation Trust Fund, etc.
  • HB 787 Offshore energy resources; production & development permitted 50 miles off Atlantic shoreline.
  • HB 928 Virginia Universities Clean Energy Development and Economic Stimulus Foundation; created.

Transportation

The families of this district have resorted to planning their lives around traffic as a result of spending several hours a week stuck in congestion. Chris Stolle understands that this is a quality of life issue and an economic issue. We need make use of our existing infrastructure as well as an innovative strategy to keep people and commerce moving. With the ports, airports, railways and highways, we must use and leverage every state, federal and private fund to build and maintain these economic assets.

  • HB 1692 Speed limits; City of Va. Beach may, by ordinance, change on any highway in its jurisdiction.
  • SB 1126 Public Procurement Act; transportation-related construction projects.
  • HB 42 Transportation programs; JLARC to administer a performance audit, report.
  • HB 402 Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel; VDOT to accept for review unsolicited proposals to add capacity.
  • HB 756 Offshore drilling; royalties to be deposited in Transportation Trust Fund, etc.
  • HB 759 HOV lanes; allows certain military personnel to use in Hampton Roads regardless of passengers.

Health Care

As a physician and employer in the health care industry, Chris Stolle’s knowledge of the industry has made him a leader in the General Assembly working to provide affordable health care for Virginia families and businesses. Health care reform is an immediate concern for families that we need to address. As we look for ways to reform health care, it is crucial that we have a physician at the table to advocate for patients, and to ensure the quality, safety and accessibility of health care in the future.

  • HB 2229 Practitioners; competency assessments.
  • HB 2467 Health insurance; mandated coverage for autism spectrum disorder.
  • HB 10 Individual health insurance coverage; resident of State not required to obtain, etc., policy.
  • HJ 99 Health insurance coverage, catastrophic; Joint Commission on Health Care to study options.

Education

There is nothing more empowering for individual success than a quality education. As a member of the Education Committee, Chris Stolle will continue to support legislation that will ensure that the every child has the educational tools they need to compete and succeed in life. Chris has championed legislation that has expanded higher education opportunities for veterans and their spouses.

Taxes

You work hard for your money. Chris Stolle believes that taxes should be kept as low as possible while still providing core services, and will continute to fight to allow you to keep more of your hard-earned dollars.

Veterans

Chris Stolle is working hard to ensure that Virginia is the best state in the country for veterans and their families.  Chris has both championed legislation and voted for bills that will enhance the quality of life for our current and retired servicemembers and their families.

  • HB 128 Fishing license, special; DGIF to issue free licenses to disabled active duty military personnel.

  • HB 760 Veterans Skills Database; established.
  • HB 1118 Virginia Military Family Relief Fund; State policy to exclude from taxation payments made from Fund.
